Information about Gowan Bank Farm Cottage

Property ref: 5052

We are delighted to offer this charming cottage which lies in a picturesque rural setting on a 400 acre working farm dating back to 1600, reached up a narrow unmetalled track midway between Windermere and Staveley village. The cottage has been newly restored and prepared to a high standard with every thought for your holiday comfort and would make a perfect setting for a romantic stay in beautiful surroundings. Gowan Bank is well placed for all sorts of activities with plenty of walks and country rambles from the door including the Dales Way which passes close to the cottage. Longer days out can be enjoyed in the fells around Kentmere which is also much loved by cyclists and mountain bikers. A few minutes' drive will bring you to Windermere and the lake at Bowness Bay. There is excellent shopping in Windermere, village shops in Staveley and the well-known pub and brewery The Watermill at Ings within easy walking distance.

Accommodation: Entrance into open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area.  Shaker style kitchen with quality appliances, view out to the garden and breakfast bar dining area.  Dual aspect lounge area with character fireplace with log burning stove, TV, DVD and Ipod dock.  Upstairs there is a very large bedroom with super king size bed and views out to towards Reston Scar and surrounding fells.  High quality en-suite bathroom with double ended roll top bath, separate large power shower, wc and basin.

The owners of the farm have renovated this former stable to a very high standard, furnished with locally handmade pieces throughout, feature stonework and beams, slate flooring downstairs and Herdwick wool carpets upstairs.  There is under floor heating downstairs and in the en-suite and radiators in the bedroom all fired by a very eco-friendly log boiler which is fuelled by trees from the farm.  There will also be a basket of logs supplied for the house log burner on your arrival.
