Discover Ambleside & Troutbeck

Ambleside is a quirky and vibrant hub of activity surrounded by magnificent mountains and situated at the head of Windermere and the foot of the iconic Kirkstone Pass. You can easily reach many of the famous fells from Ambleside including the Fairfield Horseshoe –  a 9-mile circuit and one of the most notable high-top ridges.

Once off the fells you can easy hire a rowing boat, hop on a historic steamer or if you prefer two wheels there are plenty of places to hire a bike for some on or off road adventures.

Back to the buzz of the village centre and you will be spoilt for choice for cafes, restaurants and independent shops and all within easy reach of each other. Stock up on local crafts and gifts before enjoying a cocktail or two in the Jazz bar for an evening of live music to keep you entertained.

After the hustle and bustle head along to the stunning Troutbeck valley – a true walkers paradise with a traditional Lakeland Inn perfectly placed to provide refreshments at every stop whilst taking in some of the most spectacular scenery the area has to offer.
